SANU BABU Company was founded in autumn 1991 when we sat at a terrace of a Nepal Peace Cottage Hotel in Kathmandu and we suspected that we would miss that colourful land under Himalaya Mountains. We were about to leave home after a few month students expedition across India and Nepal. Despite our expectations based on Hindu and Buddhism manuals were different we discovered a new world, charming culture and completely different lifestyle. When drinking a cooling tea somebody uttered a sigh it would be great to take a bit of that flamboyant atmosphere back to cold Europe.

And we gave it a try. First we brought few pieces and sold it to friends. In 1994 we started SANU BABU Ltd. Business. We built up a wholesale warehouse and opened a first shop in the centre of Prague. At the same time we opened sale exhibition about Nepal in Celetná Street. Currently we run seven shops in Prague, one in Mladá Boleslav, Liberec, Ostrava, Pardubice and Písek. Our goods are sold in other shops in Břeclav, Brno, Plzeň, Rakovník and Košice. Wholesale customers come to us from the whole Czech Republic and abroad.
We widened our offer to 3000 items, counting hundreds of incenses, original silver jewellery, Indian furniture, and others. We import virtually all goods that fulfil our idea about what is ethnic but of quality we are used to in Europe.
Again and again we discover new ideas of Nepali and Indian producers and hope each anorak from yak wool, jumper, statuette or silver jewellery we bring into the Czech Republic will have that bit of relaxed atmosphere of that warm Asian sunset when colourful prayer flags were flickering in wind and flowers laid to statues of Vishnu God wilt in temples.
